The inaugural Mang’u High School Alumni golf day was held at the par 71 Muthaiga Golf Club on the 3rd of August, 2018. The event was an opportunity where top golfers, Mang’u alumni and students were expected to rub shoulders for a great cause – raise money for various projects in the school.
The event was organized by the Mang’u High School Alumni Association. The Interim Chairman, Anthony Maina had promised a day of top action and fun and did not fail to live up to the expectation. Various Mang’u old boys were in attendance not to mention the presence of former Vice President Moody Awori who was the Chief Guest at the event.
The golf day was aimed at raising funds to support the school and go towards the improvement of Mang’u High School. The event was open for participation by members of the public and was attended by over 170 participants.
The school which was founded in 1925 is renowned for producing some of the best brains in the country including former President Mwai Kibaki, the late Tom Mboya, the late George Saitoti, the late Cardinal Otunga, the late John Michuki, former Attorney General James B. Karugu, former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero, former Nation Media Group CEO Wilfred Kiboro,Sportpesa CEO Ronald Karauri among others.
Those in attendance included dignitaries in various fields such as Medicine, Engineering and Business. The Mang’u students in attendance got to participate in the tournament and learn quite a bit about golf.
The organizing secretary of the Mang’u High school Alumni Association, Mr. Wilfred Gachunga who is part of the Mang’u High alumni, reported the success of the event saying that the this was just the beginning and that there will be more events to come.
Students of Mang’u High School were treated to a full day of golfing activities and got to meet and greet the old boys who were present. The students got a chance to learn to play golf, ask questions, propose ideas and learn.
